cds notificationCDS or Combined Defence Services exam is a national level test conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) twice a year that gives opportunity to potential and eligible youths to join defence services in order to serve the nation.

Candidates can apply for Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Officer's Training Academy, whichever they want as per their educational and age qualification. Selected candidates are then called for an interview by Service Selection Board (SSB).

Commencement of course: The courses at IMA, INA, AFA & OTA for CDS II November 2018 Exam successful candidates will be started in the month of July 2019 for IMA & INA wing, August 2019 for AFA wing and October 2019 for OTA wing respectively.

For CDS I successful candidates, the courses start in the January, February & April month of following year respectively.

Qualification:

Graduate Degree from Recognized University (According to the Post).

  • Army – For army, the candidate must have a graduate degree form a recognised university.
  • Navy – The candidate must possess a B.Tech / B.E. degree.
  • Air force – The candidates must either have a B.tech/ B.E. degree or a graduation degree with physics and maths studied as compulsory subjects in 10+2.

Age:

  • The age range for CDS 2 2018 is different for all services.

    • Air force – 02 July, 1995 – 01 July, 1999 (20-24 years) as on 1st July, 2019
    • Army – IMA- 2nd July, 1995 – 1st July, 2000 (19-24) and OTA- 2nd July, 1994 – 1st July, 2000(19-25) years
    • Navy – 2nd July, 1995 – 1st July, 2000(19- 22) years

Marital Status:

  • For Indian Military Academy, applicants should be- Unmarried
  • For Indian Naval Academy, applicants should be- Unmarried
  • For Air Force Academy, applicants should be- Unmarried
  • For Officers Training Academy (SSC Men) applicants should be- Unmarried
  • For Officers Training Academy (SSC Women Non-Technical courses)- Unmarried or issueless Widowed or issueless divorcees who didn't remarried

One key point is that there is negative marking of one third for each wrong answer. So students are advised to answer the question carefully in cds written exam.

  • The admit card bears the name, address and code of exam centres.
  • The candidates are advised to bring their admit card, an id proof, and all other necessities.

  • You will land on to the homepage, then select career section.
  • Now click on the notification of recruitment process CDS-II 2018 Exam Notification
  • When you click on that notification, the form will be displayed along with the instruction set.
  • Read all the stated instructions carefully into it.
  • After reading all the instructions, fill in all the application form.
  • Fill in all the credentials mentioned in the form correctly.
  • Upload your scanned photograph and signature, in the required column.
  • If you're filled information is correct, then click on the submit button.
  • Make the Application Fee Payment for the CDS II 2018 Application Form.
  • Now, they will take you to the page where your full application will be displayed.
  • Take a printout of that application form for future reference.

CDS Application Fee

  • General and OBC candidates – Rs. 200
  • Female/SC/ST Candidates – Need not pay any fee amount.
  • The application fee for CDS can be paid online and offline. The offline mode to pay the fee is via Pay by Cash, whereas, the online mode include Net Banking, Debit Card, and Credit Card.

cds selection procedureCDS Selection Procedure

The candidates will be recruited to the posts offered under IMA, INA, Air Force Academy, and Officers’ Training Academy through Written Examination, Interview and Personality Test. A merit list will be prepared on the basis of the total marks obtained by candidates in the written examination and in the SSB test. The final selection will be strictly based on merit subject to medical fitness and aptness in all other respects and number of posts available.
