SSC Stenographer (Grade 'C' & 'D')
SSC conducts an open examination for candidates aspiring to be stenographer at various central ministry offices. This examination is a delight for the youth how want to start earning early in their life. This examination gives an early opportunity to get into the government job and latter willing aspirants may even opt for department examinations for promotions which is for sure far easier to crack than open examination at same level. - Written examination
A written examinations of maximum 200 marks aimed to judge candidates general intelligence and awareness along with hold at various important subjects. On basis of marks obtained in the written examination, candidate will get the opportunity to decide the department of his/her choice.
- Skill/Typing Test (Qualifying nature only)
Candidates who will qualify written exam will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English / Hindi at the speed of 100 w.p.m. for the post of Grade ‘C’ & and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘D’. The matter will have to be transcribed on computer only.
- Educational Qualification
12th standard or equivalent or higher from recognized university or board.
- Age Limit
Candidate should have attained 18 years & should be below 27 years. Candidates can claim age relaxation if he/she falls under and considered category. The age limits mentioned here are applicable to general category candidates.
- a citizen of India, or
- a subject of Nepal, Bhutan
- a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
- a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania ( Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar ), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
- Grade ‘C’ (Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted) in pay band 2 plus grade pay
- Grade ‘D’ (Group ‘C’ Non-technical) in pay band 1 plus grade pay
Scheme & Syllabus for written examination
Questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) format. Each question will have four options; candidate has to choose one correct option among the given options. The paper will be in both Hindi and English version. The section ‘C’ will be in English language only. Deduction of 0.25 marks will be made for each incorrect answer.
General Intelligence & Reasoning: Analogies, similarities & differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concept, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series etc. The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate’s abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions.
General Awareness: The questions will be to test knowledge of basic science, current events, India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution, and Scientific Research etc.
English Language & Comprehension: To test of candidate’s understanding of the English Language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, etc.
