    1. Simona Halep wins 2018 French Open women’s singles crown
      • Romania’s Simona Halep (World number one) beat American Sloane Stephens 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 at Roland Garros to win the first Grand Slam title ‘French Open Women’s Singles 2018’.
      • Now, she became the second Romanian woman to win a Grand Slam title after the 1978 French Open champion Virginia Ruzici.
      • This was Halep’s fourth major final and has lost all three in the past
    2. ‘Rail MADAD’, ‘Menu on Rails’ mobile apps
      • Ministry of Railways introduced two mobile applications ‘Rail MADAD’ and ‘Menu on Rails’ to improve the travelling experience.
      • Rail MADAD’, ‘Menu on Rails’:
      • The apps were launched by Railway Minister and Minister of State (MoS) at a press conference held to highlight the achievements of the Railway Ministry in the past four years.
      • Rail MADAD app will help travellers to register complaints. Menu on Rails app will offer the facility to order food.
    3. India beat Kenya to lift Intercontinental Cup football title
      • India defeated Kenya 2-0 and lifted the Intercontinental Cup football title in Mumbai.
      • Both the goals were netted by India’s skipper Sunil Chhetri.
      • Now, Sunil Chhetri has become the joint second highest international goal scorer among active players along with superstar Lionel Messi (Argentina) with his 64th strike for the country against Kenya.
    4. Trump meets Singapore PM Lee Hsien Loong
      • US President Donald Trump met Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong ahead of historic ‘Trump-Kim summit'(12th Jun).
      • They were expected to discuss everything from the summit preparations to the US’ tariff threats.
    5. IT Minister launches 5000 Wi-Fi Choupals, delivery of rail tickets through CSCs
      • Union Minister for Electronics & IT and Law Justice launched major services showcasing the impact and progress made by the Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) in promoting rural Wi-Fi network infrastructure.
      • This was launched in a conference organized by CSC SPV.
      • Key points:
      • 5000 Wi-Fi choupals have been launched to provide Internet connectivity to the 2.5 lakh gram panchayats through optical fiber cable.
      • Mou between CSC and IRCTC has been signed for availability of railway services like booking railway tickets etc. through CSC centres.
      • IndusInd bank will provide CSR support CSC SPV for digital literacy of 3 lakh candidates through PMGDISHA.
      • 2.90 lakh CSCs will be able to work as Business Correspondents (BCs).
      • CSC will also be used for first line maintenance of BharatNet in the country.
    6.  BaharatNet :
      • BharatNet or Bharat Broadband Network Limited is a telecom infrastructure provider under government’s telecom department.
      • It’s aim is to establish , manage and operate National Optic Fiber Network to provide a minimum of 100 Mbps broadband connectivity to each of 250000 Gram panchayats covering 625000 villages in the country.
    7. India’s will have 1st police museum in Delhi
      • The museum will come up as an underground facility in the premises of the national police memorial in Chanakyapuri area of the national capital.
      • The museum is expected to be inaugurated on October 21 (Police Commemoration Day) at the hands of either Prime Minister Narendra Modi or Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
    8. 1st batch of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra has flagged-off
      • The Union Minister of State for External Affairs has flagged off the first batch of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra -2018 in New Delhi.
      • The Yatra is organized by the External Affairs Ministry every year between June and September.
      • There are two routes for Yatra-through Lipulekh pass(Uttarakhand) and through Natu La pass(Sikkim).
    9. 11th World Hindi Conference
      • 11th World Hindi Conference which will be hosted by Mauritius Government from August 18- 20 2018.
      • The main theme of the Conference is “Hindi Vishwa Aur Bharatiy Sanskriti”.
      • Key points:
      •  The Event is organized by the Indian External Affairs Ministry every 3 years.
      • This year the organizing authority is World Hindi Secretariat located in Mauritius.
      • The Conference will cover both the classical and modern elements of Hindi.
      • The first World Hindi Conference was held in 1975 in Nagpur, India. Since then, ten such Conferences have been held in different parts of the world.
      • The 10th World Hindi Conference was held in Bhopal in September 2015.
    10. Vladimir Putin got ‘highest state honour of China’
      • Chinese President Xi Jinping presented China’s first friendship medal to Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a special event held at the Great Hall of People, China.
      • This Friendship medal has been claimed to be the highest state honour of China. Xi Jinping praised Vladimir Putin’s contributions to build a peaceful world.
    11. The First Female Fighter Hall of Famer In UFC
      • American fighter Ronda Rousey will become the first female MMA fighter to be inducted into the Ultimate Fighting Championship Hall of Fame, the UFC announced. There would be no women in UFC without Ronda Rousey.
      • Rousey had a 12-2 win-loss record, winning 11 of them within the first round of the fight.
    12. Vettel wins Canadian GP
      • Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel dominated the Canadian Grand Prix to retake the championship lead as Lewis Hamilton could finish only fifth for Mercedes.
      • Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas finished second.
    13. S Ramesh – New Chairman of CBIC
      • S Ramesh has been appointed as the Chairman of Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC).
      • He has been a member of Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC). He will replace Mrs Vanaja N. Sarna, who will be retiring in the end of June 2018.
      • Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC):
      • Part of – Department of Revenue
      •  Functions under – Ministry of Finance
      • Purpose – formulation of policy concerning levy and collection of Customs & Central Excise duties and Service Tax, prevention of smuggling and administration of matters relating to Customs, Central Excise, Service Tax and Narcotics to the extent under CBEC’s purview.
    14. World Day against Child Labour 2018
      • The World Day against Child Labour was observed across the world on June 12, 2018, with an aim to raise awareness against child labour.
      • The theme of World Day against Child Labour 2018 was ‘Generation Safe & Healthy’.
      • There are 541 million young workers (15-24 years old) globally.
    15. The Green Mizoram Day 2018
      • On 11th June 2018, Green Mizoram Day was observed throughout Mizoram.
      • Green Mizoram Day 2108:
      • On this day government employees, students and members of NGOs planted large number of trees.
      • Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla inaugurated the Green Mizoram Day 2018. The function was attended by cabinet ministers, legislators and senior government officials.
      • The trees were planted as a part of this event along the Chite river in Aizawl. The Green Mizoram Day is observed every year on 11th June since 1999.
    16. The Grand Finale of  First Hardware edition of Smart India Hackathon 2018
      • The Ministry of HRD along with AICTE, Persistent Systems, i4C and IIT Kharagpur is all set to host the Grand Finale of Smart India Hackathon 2018 – Hardware edition from Jun 18-22, 2018.
      • The Smart India Hackathon 2018 is in line with the ‘Make in India’ initiative of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and is proving to be an important vehicle for scouting new ideas and help them convert them into products and businesses.
    17. Guidelines to modify loan system for large borrowers
      • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) released the draft guidelines to modify the loan system for delivery of bank credit, making the rules stricter to regulate larger borrowers enjoying working capital facility from the banking system.
      • The draft specifies a minimum level of loan component in fund based working capital finance and a mandatory Credit Conversion Factor (CCF) for the undrawn portion of cash credit availed of by large borrowers.
      • Banks provide working capital finance by way of cash credit, working capital demand loan, purchase/discount of bills, bank guarantee, letter of credit, factoring, etc.
      • The Cash Credit is a type of facility provided by the bank or financial institution in which, a company can withdraw an amount more than what he holds to his credit against the security.
      • Cash credit (CC) is by far the most popular mode of working capital financing. Though cash credit has its benefits, it poses several regulatory challenges such as rollovers, diffusion of liquidity management from the borrowers to banks, and hindering of smooth transmission of monetary policy
