    1. Ratnagiri Refinery project of Maharashtra
      • A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Saudi Aramco & Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and India to jointly develop and build an integrated refinery and petrochemicals complex at Ratnagiri,Maharashtra.
      • The project will be implemented by Ratnagiri Refinery & Petrochemicals Ltd. (RRPCL). RRPCL which is promoted by a consortium of India PSUs consisting of IOCL, BPCL and HPCL will now have Saudi Aramco & ADNOC as overseas strategic partners.
      • The project will be set up as a 50:50 joint partnership (50:50) between the consortium from India and Saudi Aramco and ADNOC.
    2. Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) as an annual exercise between both Navies of India & Bangladesh.
      • Both countries are agreed to institute Coordinated Patrol.
      • The first edition of CORPAT will be held from June 27 to June 29, 2018.
      • Four maritime patrol aircraft, two from the Bangladesh Navy and two from the Indian navy will participate in the CORPAT.
      • The Navy regularly conducts CORPATs with Indonesia, Myanmar and Thailand.
    3. E Sreedharan panel on the standards for metro rail systems
      • The panel aims at cutting the costs in the construction and operation of metro rail systems in the country and brings them under the Make in India umbrella.
      • The committee will be headed by E Sreedharan, who is also popularly known as the “Metro Man.
      • It will bring India to the international standard in line with Russia and Eastern Europe where every metro has the same standards, the same signalling system and track gauge, etc.
    4. Arijit Basu – new Managing Director of SBI
      • Executive committee of the central board approved appointment of Anil Kishore as deputy managing director and chief risk officer of the bank for a period up to May, 2020.
      • He will fill the position that fell vacant following the elevation of Rajnish Kumar as the chairman.
    5. R Praggnanandhaa – the second youngest Grandmaster in chess history
      • R Praggnanandhaa beated Italian Grandmaster Luca Moroni in the eighth round of the Gredine Open at Ortisei in Italy
      • He has become the second youngest Grandmaster in chess history at the age of 12 years, 10 months, 13 days.
      • The youngest Grandmaster ever is Russia’s Sergey Karjakin, who achieved the feat aged 12 years, 7 months and has held the record since 2002.
      • Apart from World Champion, Grandmaster is the highest title a chess player can attain.
    6. Mundka-Bahadurgarh corridor
      • 11-km-long fully elevated Mundka-Bahadurgarh stretch, with seven stations, is an extension of the existing Delhi Metro’s Green Line from Inderlok to Mundka.
      • This is the third place in Haryana to be brought under Delhi Metro’s network, after Gurugram and Faridabad.
    7. Awards of IIFA 2018
      • Sridevi won Best Actress (posthumously) for her role in 2017 film MOM, at the Indian International Film Awards (IIFA), held in Bangkok.
      • Irfan Khan won the prize for Best Actor in a leading role for Hindi Medium.
      • ‘Tumhari Sulu’ was named Best Picture.
      • Saket Chaudhary won the best direction award for ‘Hindi Medium’.
      • The Best Music Direction Award went to the trinity of Amaal Mallik, Tanishk Bagchi and Akhil Sachdeva for their work on Badrinath Ki Dulhania.
      • Anupam Kher, who has over 500 films to his credit, was honoured with the Outstanding Achievement Award at the ceremony.
    8. Mohanpura irrigation project in Madhya Pradesh
      • Project includes a dam and a canal system, which benefit 727 villages in the state.
      • It would irrigate 1.25 lakh hectares of land and would also provide drinking water to over 400 villages.
    9. Use of LED bulbs are mandatory in govt offices of Haryana by 15 Aug 
      • All halogen, sodium bulbs and tube lights will be replaced with energy-efficient LED bulbs and tube lights.
      • The use of incandescent lamps and purchase of sodium vapour lamps by government sector, government aided sector, boards and corporations and autonomous bodies have already been banned.       
    10. India is the largest borrower from Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank
      • With the total project portfolios of US$4.4 Billion, India has been the largest borrower of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) lending since the time the Bank started its operations.
    11. No Toilet, No Bride resolution
      • Haryana’s Godikan village panchayat has passed a ‘No Toilet, No Bride’ resolution, becoming the first panchayat in the country to do so.
