    1. First Delta Ranking of Aspirational Districts launched by NITI Aayog
      • The first Delta Ranking (Incremental Progress) of the Aspirational Districts based on self-reported data of districts between March 31, 2018 to May 31, 2018.
      • The data was received on five developmental areas- Health and Nutrition, Education, Agriculture and Water Resources, Financial Inclusion and Skill Development, and Basic Infrastructure.
      • These rankings were launched as a part of ‘Transformation of Aspirational Districts’ programme of PM Narendra Modi.
      • Dahod district of Gujarat improved 19.8 points to rank 1st in the Delta ranking and was Ranked 17th in Baseline ranking.
      •  West Sikkim district of Sikkim stood second with 18.9 points, a huge improvement from being in the 30th position in Baseline ranking.
      • Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh also made significant improvement by gaining 14.7 points, fetching 6th position in Delta ranking. It ranked at 45th position in Baseline ranking.
    2. International Day of Parliamentarism 2018
      • The 2018 International Day of Parliamentarism was observed across the globe on June 30, 2018 with an aim to recognise the role of parliaments in national plans and strategies and in ensuring greater transparency and accountability at national and global levels.
      • It is also an opportunity for parliaments to take stock, identify challenges, and ways to address them effectively.
      • Parliamentary system of government falls into two categories: bicameral (with two chambers of parliament) and unicameral (with one chamber).
    3. ‘ReUnite’ Mobile App
      • Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation launched a mobile application ‘ReUnite’ to track and trace missing and abandoned children in India.
      • The app has been developed jointly by NGO ‘Bachpan Bachao Andolan’ and IT major Capgemini.
      •  The app is multiuser where parents and citizens can upload pictures of children, and provide detailed description like name, birth mark, address, report to the police station, search and identify missing kids.
      • The photographs will not be saved in the mobile phone’s physical memory.
      • Amazon Rekognition, web facial recognition service, is being used within the app to identify missing kids.
      • Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA) is an NGO and India’s largest movement for the protection of children and works along with law enforcement agencies and policymakers.
        • It was founded by Kailash Satyarthi, a social activist and Nobel Laureate.
    4. Flying brain – An AI robot
      • An Artificial Intelligence (AI) robot hardwired to assist astronauts is launched to the International Space Station (ISS) atop a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Florida.
      • The Crew Interactive Mobile Companion (CIMON), is an English speaking robot which will assist German astronaut Alexander Gerst to conduct experiments on ISS.
    5. Plastic bottle crushers at 4 stations – Indian Railways
      • The South Central Railway has installed plastic bottle crushers at Telangana’s Kachiguda, Secunderabad, and Nizamabad, and Andhra Pradesh’s Vijayawada stations in order to promote environmental protection.
      • The machines can crush up to 5,000 bottles a day.
      • The crushed plastic pieces can be reused to make bags or t-shirts.
    6. Black Money Data from Swiss Bank by 2019
      • As part of a bilateral treaty signed between the India and Switzerland, India would start getting data on deposits made by Indians this year in Swiss Banks from 2019.
    7. N Korea – Worst human trafficking country
      • According to the annual ‘2018 Trafficking in Persons Report’, North Korea has been included in the Tier 3 category, which is the lowest ranking, along with China, Russia and Iran.
    8. Mumbai airport’s terminal 1 –  first to offer automated check-in facility
      • Airlines operating out of the Terminal 1 (T1) of the city airport now provide self-bag drop (SBD) facility to passengers, making it the only terminal with such a fully-automated check-in system.
    9. 100 units of digital farming to Gujarat by Israel
      • Israel will gift 100 units of digital farming on an experimental basis in Gujarat. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani is on a six-day-long visit to Israel with a high-level delegation.
      • Netafim is an Israeli irrigation solutions providing firm.
    10. National Statistics Day 2018
      • This day is to create public awareness about the importance of statistics in socio-economic planning and policy formulation.
      • The day acknowledges the notable contribution of Late Professor Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis in the fields of statistics, statistical system and economic planning.
      • The 2018 theme is “Quality Assurance in Official Statistics”.
