    1. ‘Khan Prahari’ App & the Coal Mine Surveillance & Management System
      • Union Minister of Coal, Railways, Finance & Corporate Affairs launched the Coal Mine Surveillance & Management System (CMSMS) and Mobile Application ‘Khan Prahari’.
      • The ‘Khan Prahari’ app has been developed by CMPDI, Ranchi, a Subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL) and Bhaskarcharya Institute of Space Application and Geo-informatics (BISAG).
      • The ‘Coal Mine Surveillance & Management System (CMSMS):
        • The ‘Coal Mine Surveillance & Management System (CMSMS) aims to report, monitor and take suitable action on unauthorised coal mining activities.
        • The CMSMS is a web based GIS application through which location of sites for unauthorised mining can be detected.
        • The basic platform used in the system is of Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology’s (MeiTY) map which provides village level information. The leasehold boundary of all the coal mines is displayed on this map.
        • The system also uses information provided by responsible citizens using smartphones using the mobile application ‘Khan Prahari’.
      • Khan Prahari App:
        • Khan Prahari is a tool for reporting any activity taking place related to illegal coal mining like rat hole mining, pilferage etc.
        • One can upload geo-tagged photographs of the incident along with textual information directly to the system.
        • Once reported, the information will be automatically directed to the nodal officers to take suitable action on those activities.
        • The complainant can also track his complaint through the system.
    2. Bank of China gets RBI licence to launch operations in India
      • The Reserve Bank of India has issued licence to Bank of China to launch operations in India.
      • Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made a commitment to Chinese President Xi Jinping to allow Bank of China to set up branches in India when they met on the sidelines of the SCO summit in Chinese city of Qingdao last month.
      • Bank of China is one of the very few state-owned commercial banks in China.
    3. Umbrella Schemes for Relief and Rehabilitation of Migrants and Repatriates
      • The schemes will provide relief and rehabilitation assistance to the refugees, displaced persons, civilian victims of terrorist/communal/LWE violence and cross border firing and mine/IED blasts on Indian Territory and riot victims of various incidents etc.
      • The schemes are as under:
        • Central Assistance for one-time settlement of displaced families from Pak Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) and Chhamb settled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir.
        • Rehabilitation   Package   and   up-gradation   of   infrastructure   of   the Bangladeshi Enclaves and Cooch Behar District after transfer of enclaves between India and Bangladesh under Land Boundary Agreement.
        • Relief assistance to Sri Lankan refugees staying in camps in Tamil Nadu and Odisha.
    4. DNA Technology (Use and Application) Regulation Bill, 2018
      • The primary intended purpose for enactment of "The DNA Technology (Use and Application) Regulation Bill" is for expanding the application of DNA-based forensic technologies to support and strengthen the justice delivery system of the country.
      • The utility of DNA based technologies for solving crimes, and to identify missing persons, is well recognized across the world.
    5. Renaming of Agartala Airport approved by cabinet
      • The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval to rename the Agartala Airport in Tripura as ‘Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya Kishore Airport, Agartala.
      • The decision comes in the wake of the long pending demand of people of Tripura as well as the Tripura Government for paying tribute to Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya Kishore.
      • Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya Kishore, who ascended the throne of the erstwhile Tripura Princely State in 1923, was an enlightened and benevolent ruler
    6. Creation of one post each of Vice-Chairperson and Member in the NC approved by cabinet
      • The Union Cabinet has approved the creation of one post each of Vice-Chairperson and Member in the National Commission for Safai Karmacharis.
      • The decision is intended to optimize functioning of the Commission and for fulfilling desired objectives of welfare and development of the target group.
      • The National Commission for Safai Karmacharis is working for the welfare of both Safai Karamcharis and Manual Scavengers.
    7. Extension of Scheme of Recapitalization of RRBs upto 2019-20 by cabinet
      • The Union Cabinet has approved the extension of the scheme of recapitalization of Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) for the next three years i.e. upto 2019-20.
      • This will enable the RRBs to maintain the minimum prescribed Capital to Risk Weighted Assets Ratio (CRAR) of 9 per cent.
      • A strong capital structure and minimum required level of CRAR will ensure financial stability of RRBs which will enable them to play a greater role in financial inclusion and meeting the credit requirements of rural areas.
    8. Sports Authority of India will now be Sports India
      • The Sports Authority of India (SAI) is set to be renamed as Sports India, Union Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore announced.
      • The sports body, established in 1984, organised its 50th governing body meeting, where it was also decided that coaches will be given a say in decision making and the food expenses of athletes will also be increased.
    9. NRL becomes first oil PSU to introduce online legal compliance
      • Assam’s Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL) has become the first oil public sector undertaking (PSU) to adopt an online legal compliance system by introducing ‘Legatrix’.
      • ‘Legatrix’ is a one-stop solution for effectively managing the organization’s legal and regulatory compliances through monitoring control at the different level.
      • It encompasses the requirements of laws such as labor, taxation, IT, commercial, export-import, corporate laws and other industry-specific laws.
      • Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) is a joint venture between Bharat Petroleum (61.65%), Oil India (26%) and Government of Assam (12.35%).
    10. E-Marketing system launched by The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC)
      • Single- umbrella e-marketing system named ‘KIMIS’ (Khadi Institution Management and Information System) in New Delhi.
      • The system can be accessed from anywhere in the country for the sale & purchase of Khadi and Village Industries products.
      • This software will give real-time data of sales and give the updated status of stocks of khadi Bhavan and godowns.
