    1. "Arth – art for earth" An exhibition by The Union Minister Dr Mahesh Sharma
      • Arth was inaugurated at IGNCA, New Delhi.
      • ‘ARTH – ART FOR EARTH’ by Manav Gupta consists of "Excavations in Hymns of Clay"-a suite of environmental art installations by Manav Gupta weaving all of them with a storyline and poetry.
    2. The Design University for Gaming in Visakhapatnam
      • UNESCO delegation entered into an agreement with Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) for the establishment of ‘Gaming Digital Learning Hub’.
      • The UNESCO delegation asked the Chief Minister for an allocation of 100 acres of land in Visakhapatnam
      • The Design University for Gaming will help UNSECO to develop edutech gaming in the state, with the target of providing 50,000 jobs in 10 years.
    3. GST ‘Verify App’ – by CBIC
      • ‘GST Verify’ app is to protect the interest of consumers.
      • The application is to verify if the person collecting GST from the consumer is eligible to collect it or not.
      • It also provides the details of the person/company collecting GST.
      • This app, developed by B Raghu Kiran joint commissioner GST Hyderabad.
    4. ‘Pandharichi Wari’
      • "Pandharichi Wari" is Maharashtra’s 700 years old tradition in which devotees of Lord Vitthala called Varkari trace the route to Pandharpur.
      • For this holy function Devotees from all over state gathers in Dehu and Alandi, the native places of Sant Tukaram Maharaj and sant Dnyaneshvar Maharaj in Pune district and the procession starts for its final destination, Pandharpur.
    5. CJ L. Narasimha Reddy – New CAT Chairman
      • Rtd. Justice L. Narasimha Reddy (former chief Justice Patna HC) appointed as the Chairman of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT).
      • Justice Reddy served as the Chief Justice of Patna High Court from 2nd January to 31st July 2015.
      • He was the one-man judicial commission appointed by the Centre to look into the implementation of One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme.
    6. Digital Aadhaar and Driving Licence as proof of identity – by Railways
      • The issue regarding accepting Aadhaar and Driving Licence as valid proof of identity when presented from digital locker account of the passenger has been examined by Ministry of Railways
      • It has been decided that while undertaking journey in a train, if a passenger shows the Aadhaar/Driving Licence from the ‘Issued Documents’ section by logging into his/her DigiLocker account, the same should be considered as valid proof of identity.
      • It is, however, clarified that the documents uploaded by the user himself/herself (i.e. the documents in ‘Uploaded Documents’ section) will not be considered as a valid proof of identity.
    7. First meeting of e-Commerce Task Force held in New Delhi
      • Meeting was chaired by Commerce Secretary, Rita Teaotia.
      • The meeting deliberated upon the suggestions emerging from the sub-group meetings held during 20th – 22nd June, 2018.
      • The sub-groups saw participation from various ministries and departments, high level representatives from the industry bodies, e-commerce companies, telecommunication and IT companies and independent experts.
    8. HDFC Bank most valuable bank in the emerging market outside China
      • HDFC Bank has gone past Russia’s Sberbank to become the most valuable bank in the emerging market outside China.
      • HDFC Bank’s current market capitalisation is $78.4 billion against Sberbank’s $74.4 billion.
      • There are four lenders from India that now rank among the world’s 500 most valuable companies.
      • HDFC Bank is followed by Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC), Kotak Mahindra Bank and State Bank of India
    9. RIL becomes India’s largest tax payer in private sector
      • Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani said that Reliance is India’s largest payer of Goods and Services Tax (GST), Excise and Customs Duty, and Income Tax in the private sector.
    10. International Day of Cooperatives 2018
      • Its aim is to promote the co-operative model, since it contains aspects of sustainable development at its core and is based on ethical values and principles.
      • The 2018 theme of the Day was the ‘Sustainable societies through cooperation’. 
      • This year’s theme was aimed at creating the sustainable societies through cooperation.
      • International Co-operative Day is an annual celebration of the co-operative movement.
      • It has been observed on the first Saturday in July since 1923 by the International Co-operative Alliance.
    11. Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel – New NGT Chairperson
      • Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel, who retired from the Supreme Court of India on July 6, 2018, has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the National Green Tribunal (NGT).
      • He has been appointed to the position for a term of five years, as per an order issued by the personnel ministry. The post of NGT chairperson had been lying vacant for more than 6 months after the retirement of Justice Swatanter Kumar on December 20, 2017.
    12. Uttar Pradesh banned on plastic from July 15
      • CM yogi urged everyone to stop use of plastic cup, glass and polythene after July 15.
      • The order is in line with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s plan to end the use of single-use plastic products by 2022.
      • This will be the third ban since 2015.
    13. NASA prepared to ‘touch the sun’
      • NASA unveiled a cutting-edge heat shield that will protect the spacecraft from getting burnt.
      • It was installed on June 27, 2018.
      • The shield will prevent the spacecraft core from being exposed to temperatures around 1,370 degrees Celsius.
    14. Cosmic rays may reach Earth
      • The most massive stellar system Eta Carinae is accelerating particles to high energies in the form of cosmic rays which might even reach Earth.
      • Eta Carinae is famous for the 19th-century outburst that made it the second brightest star of the sky for a brief time.
      • It is located 7,500 light years away in southern Constellation of Carina.
    15.  ‘one person, one car’ policy – by West Bengal
      • In an attempt to cut the costs incurred by the state over travel expenses of ministers and bureaucrats, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced the ‘one person, one car’ policy.
      • Further mandating economy class travel in low-cost airlines for all domestic air trips, she added that foreign travels will be sanctioned only by her.
    16. India to operate World’s Emptiest Airport’
      • Indian Civil Aviation Ministry has communicated Sri Lankan Parliament about operating it’s lost making Mattala Rajapaksa International airport in Hambantota.
      • The airport is named after former Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, which is dubbed as ‘world’s emptiest airport’ due to lack of flights.
      • The final terms of the agreement are yet to be decided as Sri Lanka.
    17. Delhi launched it’s first Cyber Forensic van
      • First cyber Forensic van of Delhi police was launched to help people in cyber crimes especially for the senior citizens who are the soft targets of cyber crimes.
      • Home Ministry is planning to launch an online cybercrime portal where people can file a complaint online.
      • The Van will be available on 24×7 basis.
